A bed of roses . . .

Can you imagine how delightful it would feel to develop inside a literal bed of roses?  These photos show the gorgeous cocoons of Leafcutter bees, who wrap their baby bees in flower petals and leaf cuttings, and favor roses.  What a lucky little egg to be surrounded by such beauty from day one!

This is like a work of art, and can you imagine the time it takes to cut each little piece?  The actual size of this cocoon is only about 1/2″ long.

Leafcutter bees are cavity nesters also, so put out some bee nesting straws and help these little artists out!
